Matt Munn is an animator, voice actor, and director with nearly two decades of experience working in the animation industry.
As a junior, undergraduate student, studying computer science at the University of Delaware, Matt was introduced to Maya® (the 3D computer graphics application), and discovered a love for CG art and animation. Thus, upon completing his undergraduate studies, Matt immediately enrolled in the MFA program for computer animation at Savannah College of Art and Design.
In 2005, after two years at SCAD (and a brief internship at a Fathom Studios in Atlanta, GA), Matt received an opportunity to work at Sony Imageworks in Culver City, CA on the studio’s first animated feature film, Open Season. There, at Imageworks, Matt spent the next several years animating on a number of projects including Surf’s Up, I Am Legend, and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. In addition to animation, Matt also served as a lead voice actor on the film Open Season 3.
After his time with Imageworks, Matt took an animation position at DreamWorks in Glendale, CA. There, he worked on the How to Train Your Dragon DVD short film, The Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon, followed by the feature film, Puss in Boots.
In 2011, Matt accepted a senior animator position at Blue Sky Studios in Greenwich, CT, and, for the next decade, he animated on several Blue Sky films including two Ice Age movies, Rio 2, Ferdinand, Peanuts, and Spies in Disguise -- on which he also served as a voice actor. In 2020, before the closing of Blue Sky Studios, Matt directed a short film featuring Scrat, from Ice Age, to be released on Disney+ early 2022.
Today, Matt is developing original stories, on a specific mission to bring black culture to animation in ways we’ve not yet seen.
